This cross-brand loyalty program earns Plenti® points on groceries and restaurants that can be redeemed at Plenti partners.

Review of the Plenti Card from American Express

The Plenti® loyalty program card brings together several major U.S. chains and allows its American Express cardholders to earn up to 3X points on grocery purchases (up to $6,000), 2X on restaurants, and 1X everywhere else American Express is accepted. Plus, if you have another American Express card that earns Membership Rewards®, MR points can be transferred to your Plenti account.

Pro Tip:

When shopping at a Plenti® partner, it is important also to scan your Plenti identifier (Plenti rewards card, Plenti key tag, Plenti account number, or your phone number), so that you will earn 1 point per dollar for being a rewards member (regardless of payment method) plus 1 point per dollar for using the Plenti® Credit Card.

Plenti points can be used at any Plenti Partner: Exxon Mobil, Winn-Dixie, Bi Lo, Rite Aid, and Harveys. So, for example, you could earn Plenti points by buying groceries at Winn-Dixie and then use those points to purchase gas at Exxon Mobil.  However, with the recent departure of big brands like AT&T and Nationwide from the program, and the announced departure of Macy’s and Chili’s as of March 15, 2018, the number of participating partners where you can redeem your Plenti points is declining.  Because Plenti points can only be redeemed at Plenti partners, this card only makes sense if you are a frequent customer of the remaining brands.

The Bottom Line
If you are a loyal shopper at any of the Plenti Partners and spend most of your money on food (at grocery stores and restaurants), this card offers decent rewards, but if you do a lot of shopping in other stores or categories you should also consider a cash back card such as Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express.
