CreditCardRewards.com Review

Best For...
This an excellent general purpose travel rewards card for moderate everyday spending that is especially rewarding if you make frequent bookings on hotels.com.

Review of the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card

With the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card you earn unlimited 2X miles spending and if you book with hotels.com, you’ll earn a whopping 10X miles.  If you’re a frequent hotels.com booker, this feature alone would justify carrying this card in your wallet.  Plus, this card offers a generous 50,000 bonus miles once you spend $3,000 within the first 3 months.

To justify the $95 annual fee (which kicks in after the first year), you would need to spend just $12,666 a year with this card. For example, if you spend just $12,666 a year your rewards with this card would be $12,666 x 2 = 25,332 miles.  This is exactly 9,500 miles more than the no-fee version of the card, Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, earns ($12,666 x 1.25=15,832 miles).  So, in the long term, even after you’ve used up the sign-up bonus, this 9,500 miles difference (equal to $95 in travel) justifies the $95 annual fee and any spending over $12,666 would yield even more miles.

The Bottom Line
If you’re a frequent traveler with modest spending habits and no particular loyalty to any one airline or just want the flexibility of a general travel rewards card, this card is an excellent option, especially if you make frequent bookings on hotels.com.
