This affordable card offers moderate spending hotel guests a way to earn free hotel stays at a selection of over 5,000 IHG hotels worldwide.

Review of the IHG® Rewards Club Traveler Credit Card

Although IHG® Rewards Club Traveler Credit Card has a $29 annual fee, the bonus points and rewards make up for it. As a sign-up bonus you can earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 on the card in the first 3 months and 5,000 bonus points after you add the first authorized user and make a purchase within 3 months.  In addition, each year you get 1 free night in an IHG® hotel.

On an ongoing basis, you can earn 5X points at IHG® hotels, 2X points at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants, and 1X on everything else. Points can be redeemed at any of IHG®'s 5,000 hotels worldwide including InterContinental Hotels Group properties, including InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Alliance® Resorts, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Holiday Inn Resort®, Holiday Inn Club Vacations®, Staybridge Suites®, Candlewood Suites®, EVEN™ Hotels and HUALUXE™.

The Bottom Line

This relatively low cost card offers a good value for frequent hotel guests who want to earn free hotel nights and tier status at any of IHG's hotels. For everyday spending, however, there are cards that offer high rewards so we recommend using this a supplement to a more flexible cash back card.
